Brooklyn’s own Mel Simon will be presenting his latest and most vibrant collection entitled “Born in Brooklyn” from his Simon Duncan fashion label’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection on Saturday October 31st 2009 at Kai Studios 1011 Dean Street, Brooklyn NY, doors open at 7pm. This show promises to be a festive and memorable event.

Fashion designer, entrepreneur and former Wall Street veteran, Mel Simon was born on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago. With a passion for fashion, Mel went onto attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

Mel pursued his fashion career as a pattern maker for Christian Francis Roth, and has spent several years at Carmen Marc Valvo. You might have caught one of the many designs Mel has worked on the red carpet being worn by the likes of celebrities such as Hollywood actress Lucy Liu, Sex In the City’s Kim Cattrall, singer and actress Vanessa Williams, Chandra Wilson of Grey’s Anatomy, Joan Rivers and Queen Latifah just to name a few.

Mel’s prestigious label, Simon Duncan Collection, has participated in numerous fashion events including the New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park. However, “Born in Brooklyn” will bring fashion back to Mel’s birthplace of fashion.
