PRESSURE & ALAINE TAKE ON THE BIG APPLE

< Kingston, JA/New York, NY, November 26, 2007: Rising Roots Reggae Star Pressure and Reggae Siren Alaine are headed to New York with award-winning Reggae/Dancehall producer Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett this December to promote the new albums Love and Affection and Sacrifice.

Released by Don Corleon Records earlier this month, Pressure’s highly anticipated Love and Affection and Alaine’s long awaited Sacrifice have been greeted with great response in the U.S. market, particularly New York City, America’s Caribbean central. Culminating with an album release party in the Reggae saturated borough of Brooklyn on December 5th, Pressure and Alaine will be on a week-long promotional tour starting December 2nd, making special appearances at radio stations and events throughout the five boroughs.

Hosted by NY’s ruling Reggae impresario Johnny Wonder and the popular Waah Gwan Radio, the star studded album release event will feature DJ Wayne of Jamaica’s Irie FM, and a host of NY’s biggest sound systems and celebrities celebrating with Pressure, Alaine, and Don Corleon in Brooklyn’s popular Track’s Café on Wednesday, December 5th.

U.S. Virgin Island Native Pressure has one of the Year’s most anticipated albums, with the title track pounding the Reggae charts in Jamaica, the U.K., U.S., and Canada. Love and Affection also features the singles “Ghetto Life,” “Personality,” “Never See Me Fall,” and “Be Free.”

With an angelic face and matching voice, Jamaican singer, songwriter, and actress Alaine’s debut album Sacrifice has been long in the making, with hit singles such as “No Ordinary Love,” “Wine,” and “Dreaming of You” with the self-proclaimed Dancehall king Beenie Man.

ABOUT PRESSURE
Blessed with a smooth melodic voice that has been capturing the attention of many in his home town of the US Virgin Islands, and writing skills that can capture a story like no other, Pressure, born Delyno Brown is ready to take Jamaica and the international audience by storm. Born on August 5th 1981, he began his musical journey at a very early age when he started playing the trumpet at age 9. He later became a member of the Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra where he learned to play a number of other musical instruments. At the age of 17, Pressure moved to the United States where he entered a few talent shows including Amateur Night at the Apollo in January, 1999. Pressure then joined a group with 6 other artist with whom he shared a common goal, to spread the word of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I, through Reggae. It was in this group that Pressure perform his first professional stage show as an opening act for international Reggae star Sizzla Kalonji in 2000. After an excellent performance, the group was in high demand and went on to open for other top acts such as Capleton, Buju Banton, Bunny Wailer and Junior Reid among others. Pressure eventually went solo, and went on to open for Elephant Man and multi platinum recording artist Sean Paul. He also released a solo album called The Pressure Is On in 2004. He performed in front of his largest audience at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in the same year. Pressure recently released his sophomore album with internationally acclaimed reggae dancehall producer Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett. He already has two singles currently receiving great airplay on major Jamaican radio stations, “Love and Affection” and “Ghetto Life”. He released a new video for the single “Love and Affection” with talks of a second video for “Ghetto Life” in the works.


ABOUT ALAINE
Singer/songwriter Alaine possesses a sweet voice, songwriting skills that show a depth of experiences, and a smile that could brighten any day. Alaine studied classical piano for four years and began writing songs at a very early age. Her talents as a singer and actress were recognized while she was a child and secured her roles in numerous Jamaican television programs and commercials, radio jingles, and theatrical productions. By age nine Alaine had been a Red Cross Ambassador, performing in several cabaret shows and national events, hosted a popular children's television show, and landed herself a role in the movie 'Clara's Heart' starring Whoopi Goldberg. After graduating with an honors degree in Management and Psychology, Alaine moved to New York where she juggled working at JP Morgan, and pursuing her musical career. She sang hooks for Roc-A-Fella recording artist, Cam'Ron, in the songs, “Live My Life (Leave Me Alone)” from the album Come Home With Me (Roc-A-Fella 2002), and “Yeo” from Music Inspired by Scarface (Def Jam, 2003). After receiving two promotions at JP Morgan, she would no longer have the time to dedicate to her music career and so she had to choose between the security of a fulltime job and the uncertainty that came with pursuing music. She took a leap of faith and chose to return to Jamaica to pursue music. Since returning to Jamaica in July of 2004, Alaine has worked with some of the islands top producers including the internationally acclaimed Sly & Robbie (No Doubt ) and Donovan 'Don Corleon' Bennett (Sean Paul, T.O.K) . Her music is a mixture of traditional Jamaican Dancehall/Reggae rhythms combined with writing and vocal arrangements that showcase her R&B/Hip Hop influences. Her song 'No Ordinary Love' charted on several Reggae Charts from across the world including, New York, Florida, Japan, Europe and the Caribbean. The music video topped the charts on MTV Tempo's Cross Caribbean Countdown for several weeks and became the first video by a female reggae artist to be retired from the countdown on one of Jamaica's biggest video request shows, E-Strip. Her song 'Deeper' is featured on Kingston 5 (Sony Europe 2005) and Strictly the Best Volume 36 (VP Records 2007). 'Wine' has been featured on Strictly the Best Volume 5 (VP Records 2007) and The Biggest Ragga Anthems for 2006 (Greensleeves Records). Her singles “Heavenly” and 'Jah Jah Cry' were included in the compilation for Biggest Reggae One Drop Anthems 2006(Greensleeves).'Love Sound', her collaboration with Beres Hammond is featured on Sly and Robbie's Grammy nominated Rhythm Doubles (Taxi Records 2006). 'Dreaming of You' (featuring, Beenie Man), 'Rise In Love,’ 'I Love You (featuring Busy Signal) and Sacrifice, among others, are in rotation across the world. Alaine performed at Reggae Sumfest 2005 and 2006 to positive reviews. She has also performed in St. Vincent, Tortola, St. Maarten, Cayman, Nevis, St. Croix, St. Thomas (USVI), St. Lucia and the United States. She recently went on a tour of several high schools in Jamaica with other popular Jamaican artists spreading the message of HIV awareness and AIDS prevention. A music video for her single “Sacrifice,” directed by top Jamaican director Ras Kassa, was recently released.
