|
<
ST. Lucia - Gosfest is back. The annual celebration and ministry of the best in Gospel music will be held this year on December 2 at Sammans Park from 5 PM.
Gosfest will feature a great cast of performers and musicians from St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados with the headline act hailing from the United States. The official line-up was named at a press conference which was held at the Palm Haven hotel on Tuesday.
Over the years Gosfest has been able to attract acts like Helen Baylor, Carlene Davis, Chevelle Franklyn and others but this year may very well be the biggest yet. Gosfest 2007 will showcase the talent of the Grammy award winners and platinum selling act Mary Mary for this year’s event. Best known for their breakthrough cross-over hit “Shackles (Praise You)” the sisters Erica and Tina will headline this year’s event with their complete band. Mary Mary is currently featured on the Gospel talent search “Sunday Best” which airs on BET.
This year’s cast will also include a former Calyspsonian and Road march winner out of Trinidad and Tobago who has since been converted and sings his praises to the Lord, Chris “Tambu” Hubert as well as Grace Notes. Performing out of Barbados will be United Voices Choral.
The Gosfest lineup has traditionally included a stellar line-up of local performers and this year is no different. Scheduled to take the stage come December 2 to open the event will be Special Blend, Shirlyanne Cyril, Michael Robinson and Selma St. Prix.
Tickets for the event cost EC$75 adults and EC$50 for children. Early bird specials are EC$60 and EC$40 respectively and ticket outlets are Sunshine Bookshop, Steve Barber shop, Citizen’s Jewelers, Christian Literature Centre and various churches on the island.
Gosfest is once again supported by the Cultural Development Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism, with additional support and sponsorship coming from Bank of Nova Scotia, Courts St. Lucia Limited, Sandals and others which will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
