Featured in Vogue, People and Vibe, her self-titled HBO Special received unprecedented ratings and was nominated for two Cable Ace Awards – Best Comedy Special and Best Performer. Among her many credits, she starred opposite Woody Allen in the ground breaking role of “Cookie” in Allen’s Deconstructing Harry, as the diva, drug lord, “Georgia Rae Mahoney” on NBC’s Homicide, and as Evelda Drumgo in the block buster film Hannibal.
In her solo performance “On Edge” Goodman brought a cast of 12 to life in a nonstop, spitfire performance. She has “such endurance and chameleon-like skill she keeps you glued to the stage” wrote the critics. People magazine calls her "sinfully good," and Time Out New York declares her "a memorable comic gem."
According to the Village Voice, "She dominates the stage. If Goodman's delivering the blow, it's bound to sting." "Ms. Goodman does an outstanding job...she seems to change gender by facial expression alone, " wrote the New York Times.
Goodman who rarely performs to Caribbean audiences plans to wake Brooklyn up at the 11th Annual Miss Trinidad & Tobago New York. “Hazelle is a special treat and whenever she is in town I must indulge. If there is a person alive who has not seen Hazelle…trust me when I say to you…you have not laughed until Hazelle makes you laugh,” said producer Renee Cummings. “Goodman last hosted the pageant in 2001. She brought patrons to their feet with laughter receiving several standing ovations. She is beyond hysterical,” Cummings added.
Goodman was honored by the Manhattan Borough President, C. Virginia Fields for her outstanding contributions in theatre, television and Film. And she also brought her extraordinary talents to the wonderful work of the late Spalding Gray entitled “Leftover Stories To Tell “ and received rave reviews. The show will be filmed by Whoopi Goldberg in Winter 2008.
